His Excellency Mr. Faris Roumi Al-Naimi, Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Belgrade, held a reception on the occasion of the National day of the State of Qatar, at the St. Regis Hotel. Approximately 200 guests attended the event, including top ranking officials, led by Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Mrs. Marina Ragus, as well as H.E. Mr. Zoran Gajic, Minister of Sport, H.E. Mr. Usame Zukurlic, Minister without portfolio, and H.E. Mr. Nenad Popovic, Minister without portfolio. In addition to representatives of the ministries and Government of the Republic of Serbia. The event was also attended by the heads of diplomatic missions, public figures, representatives of the political and cultural spheres of the Republic of Serbia, in addition to media and press representatives and religious figures.
In his welcoming speech, His Excellency the Ambassador thanked the guests for joining the celebration of the National Day of Qatar, noting that the 18th of December is not just a date, but a symbol of pride and dignity and a testimony of the long way our ancestors went to build our dear homeland. H.E. added that today, Qatar stands high on the world map, thanks to the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country, who led it with sure steps towards the future and managed to make it a model of sustainable development and innovation. The Ambassador explained that Qatar's efforts have not been limited to the domestic field, but has taken an important role in the international arena, where it has become a voice of peace and cooperation, in light of the difficult circumstances the world is going through today. It played a prominent role in mediation and conflict resolution efforts, where it contributed to many initiatives aimed at achieving peaceful solutions, and demonstrated the ability to use its international relations to promote regional and international stability.
He noted that Qatar is also experiencing rapid development in various sectors, at a time when it wants to strengthen its international relations. The most prominent of these relations is that between Qatar and the Republic of Serbia, which reflects the mutual understanding and mutual respect of the leadership of the two countries. The Ambassador added that Qatar and Serbia have shown a strong commitment to expanding cooperation in many areas, including economy and investments, as well as providing greater opportunities for cooperation in the fields of education and scientific research.
H.E. congratulated H. E. Mr. Aleksandar Vucic, the President of the friendly Republic of Serbia, on the victory for hosting Expo 2027, hoping that the organization of this extraordinary manifestation will be successful and fruitful.
