His Excellency Sheik Mubarak bin Fahad Al-Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Belgrade, held a reception on the occasion of the National day of the State of Qatar, at Hyatt Regency hotel. The event was attended by more than 500 people including top ranking officials, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications H.E. Mr. Rasim Ljajic, as well as the Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Policy H.E. Mr. Zoran Djordjevic, and the heads of diplomatic missions, public figures, representatives of the political and cultural spheres of the Republic of Serbia, in addition to media and press representatives and religious figures.  

In his welcoming speech His Excellency the Ambassador thanked the guests for joining the celebration of the National Day of Qatar, in an expression of the brotherly relations between the two friendly countries under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar and His Excellency Mr. Aleksandar Vucic, President of the Republic of Serbia. The Ambassador reiterated that The openness that characterizes the foreign policy of the State of Qatar is the basis of its political and economic strength and that it is based on the principles of coexistence and mutual respect.

He noted that the State of Qatar is facing an unjust blockade which violates all international laws and norms, but that  State of Qatar showed restraint and moderation in its response to the aforementioned steps abiding by the values and norms of the Qatari people. He thanked the Republic of Serbia for its neutral and balanced attitude towards the crisis, which calls for dialogue and negotiations and reiterated Qatar’s readiness to sit at the negotiating table and overcome disagreements and find a peaceful resolution to the crisis, provided that its sovereignty and dignity not be violated.

In conclusion His Excellency the Ambassador expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the guests for their participation in the celebration of Qatar’s National Day.
