His Excellency Sheik Mubarak bin Fahad Al-Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Belgrade, held a reception on the occasion of the National day of the State of Qatar, at Hyatt Regency hotel. Approximately 600 guests attended the event, including top ranking officials, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications H.E. Mr. Rasim Ljajic, as well as the Secretary General of the President of the Republic of serbia H.E. Mr. Nikola Selakovic, as well as Paris Saint-Germain chairman and CEO Mr. Nasser Al-Khelaifi and representatives of the ministries and Governement of the Republic of Serbia. The event was also attended by the heads of diplomatic missions, public figures, representatives of the political and cultural spheres of the Republic of Serbia, in addition to media and press representatives and religious figures.  

In his welcoming speech, His Excellency the Ambassador thanked the guests for joining the celebration of the National Day of Qatar, in an expression of the brotherly relations between the two friendly countries under the kind auspices of H. H. Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar and H. E. Mr. Aleksandar Vucic, President of the Republic of Serbia. 

He noted that more than one year has passed since some of the neighboring countries have unjustly imposed a blockade on the state of Qatar in order to weaken its economy and global standing, with the intention of undermining its sovereignty, and that the State of Qatar has managed to overcome the consequences of the blockade and strengthen its economy and increase its independence, thanks to the unity of its people and the wisdom of its leadership that has applied a policy of restraint and moderation, calling on the blockade states to dialogue without preconditions, bearing in mind that international security and stability cannot be achieved by undermining the sovereignty of states and interfering in their internal affairs, but solely by respecting the rights and norms governing the relations between states, and resolving all disputes through dialogue, respecting the interests of all parties.

H.E. the Ambassador stated that the State of Qatar has strengthened its relations with its allies and has developed ties with most of the world’s countries, and that in this regard, it pays special attention to strengthening bilateral cooperation with the friendly Republic of Serbia, through the activation of signed agreements and the intensification of the exchange of high-level visits between the two countries. He applauded the efforts made by the Government of the Republic of Serbia in achieving progress and economic development and ensuring a stable life for its people, as well as in strengthening the credibility of the Republic of Serbia in the international community, applying a policy of moderation in dealing with all regional and international challenges.

In conclusion His Excellency the Ambassador expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the guests for their participation in the celebration of Qatar’s National Day.
