Urgent Medical Aid Shipment Arrives in the Republic of Serbia

In implementation of the directives of H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the shipment of urgent medical assistance provided by the State of Qatar to face the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) has arrived to the Republic of Serbia.

The medical aid plane was received by H.E. First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Mr. Ivica Dacic, H.E. Minister of Health Zlatibor Loncar, and H.E. Sheikh Mubarak bin Fahad Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Belgrade.

In his speech on this occasion, H.E. First Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia expressed on behalf of the Government and the President of the Republic, his gratitude to the State of Qatar for responding to Serbia’s call in these difficult times for help in the fight against COVID-19. He stated that Qatar thus once again joined the group of friendly countries that have contributed to Serbia significantly to strengthen its capacities in the fight against the coronavirus, noting that the Serbian people will not forget the gesture of friendship and solidarity.

Dacic noted that Serbia apprciates the assistance even more taking into consideration that Qatar faces a major challenge, as the number of recently registered coronavirus cases exceeded 33000. He pointed out that this aid and political contacts in the previous period is evidence of the continuous improvement of bilateral relations between the two countries.

Qatar's ambassador to Serbia stated that H.H. Emir of the State of Qatar, directed to send medical assistance to the Republic of Serbia in response to the appeal of the friendly country to support the efforts in combating the novel coronavirus pandemic, in the spirit of friendship and in the interest of developing bilateral relations between the two countries. He also expressed hope that this assistance will contribute to overcoming the crisis and returning life to normal, as well as to continuing to strengthen relations between the two friendly countries.
